Schools in Berkeley, CA
Berkeley
is a famous city for families with children due to its quality public schools,
despite the high cost of living and traffic. It has a vibrant food, music,
arts, and park scene and offers opportunities to make a difference through its commitment to social justice. UC Berkeley,
founded in 1868, is among the top-ranked institutions in America, alongside
Harvard, Yale, and MIT, with an acceptance rate of around 15%. In-state
students can expect to pay nearly $40,000 per year without financial aid, which
is reduced to nearly $14,000 after admission, while out-of-state students can
expect to pay nearly $70,000 per year. Also, UC Berkeley has been involved in
groundbreaking research and discoveries, such as the first seismographic
activity recording along the San Andreas fault in 1887 and the invention of the
flu vaccine by William Stanley in the 1940s.

A man from Berkeley robs a woman at a red light.
A
masked man broke a woman's car window to steal her bag while she waited at a
red light in North Berkeley. The incident occurred on Sacramento Street near
Rose Street at around 1:15 p.m., and the woman jumped out of her car screaming.
Nearby drivers stopped their cars and honked their horns to interrupt the
situation. The masked man grabbed the bag and ran while other drivers helped
her. The getaway driver, a dark sedan without license plates, sped off and hit
the stopped cars to escape. The woman, who was not injured, appeared to be in
her 20s and was alone in her car. Berkeley police confirmed the gist of the
incident, and the sedan was later found abandoned about a mile away. Robberies
have been increasing in Berkeley this year, with 207 robberies in Berkeley this
year, up 8% compared to last year. Last weekend, a woman was robbed at gunpoint
in North Berkeley near Hopkins Street and Albina Avenue. Read
